Ketamine has quickly become a darling of the alternative community seeking safer, highly effective remedies for the ills of today. From depression, and cancer to anxiety and eating disorders, ketamine studies are popping up with valid and intriguing results.
Below, you will see links to some great articles about the surge in interest in this fascinating molecule. There is every reason to be excited about the application of a drug that is already legal across the U.S., relatively inexpensive (although that seems to be shifting!), has a wide window of safety, and is a schedule 3, non-narcotic as classified by the Controlled Substances Act.
Club Use of Ketamine:
You may recall hearing about the underground use of Ketamine as a club drug for it's potent ability to connect users to a higher sense of being. In fact, one nickname for Ketamine is God! It's also been called, Cat Tranquilizer, Cat Valium, Jet K, Kit Kat, Purple, Special K, Special La Coke, Super Acid, Super K, and Vitamin K.
The slang for Ketamine club drug experience is interesting and illustrative of the kinds of "trips" one can expect (but are not guaranteed) on psychedelic doses of Ketamine:
• “K-land” (refers to a mellow & colorful experience)
• “K-hole” (refers to the out-of-body, near-death experience)
• “Baby food” (users sink into blissful, infantile inertia)
• “God” (users are convinced that they have met their maker)
What's the onset of the experience like?
A couple of minutes after taking the drug, the user may experience an increase in heart rate and blood pressure that gradually decreases over the next 10 to 20 minutes. Ketamine can make users unresponsive to stimuli. When in this state, users experience:
Potential for Abuse
The "unresponsive to stimuli" feature deserves special mention. Although this is entirely reversible and self-limiting it's important to use Ketamine with a TRUSTED and competent guide. Great care should be taken about addressing the use of touch during sessions and whether the user wants/feels safe/desires even the gentle touch of a hand to a shoulder during the session. Once the user is under the effects of Ketamine they may not be able to revoke their preference so extra care must be given to discussing this aspect in the prep session. A well-trained guide will address this and explicitly model how the touch you consent to may be used during the session to keep you safe such as when guiding you to the toilet, or helping you adjust blankets or eye shades, etc.
*For this reason, working with a well-trained provider is critical. The potential for abuse and negligence is higher with this service than any other you are likely to encounter! I would encourage you to only work with someone to whom you feel like you can trust your life.

According to the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, as amended, Section 201(g)(1), the term drug is defined as an “article intended for use in the diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease.” Technically, vitamins, minerals, trace elements, amino acids, herbs, or homeopathic remedies are not classified as drugs. However, these substances can have significant effects on physiology and must be used rationally. In this office, we provide nutritional counseling and make individualized recommendations regarding the use of these substances in order to upgrade the quality of foods in a patient’s diet and to supply nutrition to support the physiological and biomechanical processes of the human body. Although these products may also be suggested with a specific therapeutic purpose in mind, their use is chiefly designed to support given aspects of metabolic function. Use of nutritional supplements may be safely recommended for patients already using pharmaceutical medications (drugs), but some potentially harmful interactions may occur. For this reason, it is important to keep all of your healthcare providers fully informed about all medications and nutritional supplements, herbs, or hormones you may be taking. It is your responsibility to include your healthcare provider in your medical decision-making prior to experimenting with nutritional supplements, psychedelics, or herbs.

Nutritional supplements have been made available to you as a matter of your convenience. We partner with manufacturers who have gained our confidence through considerable research and experience. We determine quality by considering: (1) the quality of the science behind the product; (2) the quality of the ingredients themselves; (3) the quality of the manufacturing process; and (4) the synergism among product components. The brands of supplements that we suggest are those that meet our high standards.
Sometimes these supplements may come at a higher financial cost than those found on the shelves of pharmacies or health food stores. These prescription-only brands may cost slightly more as they take extra measures to assure purity, quality, bioavailability (ability to be properly absorbed and utilized by the body), and effectiveness. You are entitled to make use of these wonderful products at your own discretion and with the consultation of your healthcare provider, but not obligated to use them. Jennifer Boyd makes no guarantees or claims to the efficacy of these or any products listed on this site.
